
Spring is HERE! YAY!!! The first quarter in the books! You’ve been working hard on your business and your life. It’s time to take a little inventory, see what needs a bit of tweaking. How can things run more smoothly, more efficiently, more productively? Where are you getting tripped up, bogged down, stuck? What is stealing from your focus and precious time? Is it the mindless, repeat tasks you no longer need to have mastered? Are you finding yourself overly occupied with these things, rather than nurturing your expertise, your talents, the things you are really good at? NOW is an opportune time to shift, assign, delegate away some of these responsibilities. Away. Away from YOU. Allowing yourself more time to focus on the important things that only you can do! Ready or not, here’s the easiest step-by-step to figure this out, and implement it: 1. Identify the Tasks: As you go through your workday and daily life, ask yourself repeatedly, “could someone else be doing this for me?” Whether it be…inputting new contacts, paying monthly bills, researching people and apps, distributing mass emails, posting content, editing articles, updating websites, managing calendars…the list goes on and on. Are there tasks done regularly and repeatedly? How much time do they take you? The truth is they are taking wayyyyyyyy too much of your time, away from the important work only YOU can do! Diverting and distracting you from prioritizing your talent. The talent that will create your next big thing! And your expertise shouldn’t be sidelined, stunted, stifled by wasted time on tasks that can be delegated to others…Identify the tasks. 2. Find the People: Now that you’ve got your list, pinpoint the WHO you can delegate to. Is it someone you work with already? Do you need to hire someone new? Do you need a Virtual Assistant? (wink, wink—Like ME?) Who has the mind for the work? Who can move through it more quickly, less personally than you? Who is accountable and cares about it as much as you do? Who can you trust? Who, who, who?…Find the people. 3. Set It Up and Try It: You know the tasks, you found the people, now ask them without delay! Get this going ASAP! At least TRY IT! Postponing will only keep you chained to these monotonous tasks for weeks, months, years, with no end in sight. And wouldn’t you prefer to get systems in place, up and running smoothly, allowing for more time to spend with family and friends this summer? Give yourself the grace and the peace of mind to know that everything is covered, nothing is falling through the cracks, and YOU are not having to do it all, by yourself. Because you can surrender control to a trustworthy person…Set it up! Try it! Most of us don’t fix our own cars, mow our own lawns, paint our own houses, dispose of our own garbage, clean our own toilets, or even make our own coffee! And if you do, God bless you! But seriously, why is this any different? You’ll never know until you try it! Delegating repeated duties, chores and tasks to others allows you MORE time to do the things you truly love, because you’re so damn good at them! There’s freedom there! And that’s a beautiful thing.
