Things I Have to Have: A Made Bed

It is the Alpha and the Omega!

Like many of you, making the bed is non-negotiable! I totally relate! I can probably count on one hand the number of times I left my bed UNmade. And if I were to guess, those days probably went a little wonky (that’s a word-right?).

It’s very simple, making the bed can be the first accomplishment of the day. Giving us a small sense of success, encouraging us to do another task, and another, and another. Creating a sense of ORDER in our lives. Allowing us CONTROL over something, in a world that’s so out of control! It reinforces the idea that the “little things” in life matter! And if we can master the little things, we can tackle the big things we are guaranteed to face every day.

Even if we’ve had a bad day, we will still come home to a made bed. Reminding us of what we did first that day, and every accomplishment that came after it. Crawling into a made bed encourages us for the next, new day. It gives us a better feeling thought. It’s hopeful!

These are some reasons why making my bed is so much more to me than just “making the bed”. It is the Alpha and the Omega. The beginning and the end. It impacts everything in between. And why a made bed is just something I have to have.

Click reply and tell me if you do/do not always make your bed. There’s NO judgement here!
