I’m not entirely sure how this became a tradition in my little family, but most Christmas Eves, after Mass and back at home, we end up making—and happily eating—Eggs Benedict for dinner. Easy, satisfying, delicious… and somehow the perfect Christmas Eve supper.
Amid all the noise, pressure, and general confusion that Christmas can bring, there’s something comforting about knowing one thing will be simple. No fuss. No over-the-top production. Just a special meal that quietly holds its place while we prepare for what actually matters.
We all come to this season with our own beliefs, and hopefully the freedom to express them unapologetically. But the common thread feels universal: gratitude—for family, friends, and all that we’ve been given. Wouldn’t you agree?
While Christmas Day often leans extravagant and abundant, our Eggs Benedict supper sets a different tone—one that mirrors how Christ entered this world. Humbly. Gently. Quietly. And yet, divinely glorious!
Maybe that comparison feels like a stretch. Maybe it sounds a little silly. Still, the morning after this meal, I wake up feeling grounded, grateful, and ready to embrace the true meaning of Christmas—rejoicing in gratitude and spending quality time with people I love.
For these reasons, Eggs Benedict is simply something I have to have on Christmas Eve.
