Things I Have to Have: Nail Salon Massage Chairs

Talk about illusion and alignment… If you can’t make it to the chiropractor, the massage therapist, or that fancy stretch lab, just head to a nail salon with massage chairs. Honestly, I go more for the chair than the pedicure—the polished toes are just a bonus.

We all have back pain at some point, right? And somehow it travels—one day it’s in your lower back, next day it’s shoulders, then creeps up into your neck. I love those magical chairs because I can get them to chase down my pain points and knead them away like a determined little silent masseuse. Not hassling another person to work out my problems areas.

Obviously it’s no cure for serious back issues. But for 30 glorious minutes it sure does feel like I’m getting untangled. Walking out a little taller and a lot more relaxed than when I came in.

Pedicures (aka my massage chair sessions) are part of my incentive system. I only treat myself after powering through a massive to-do list or wrapping up a demanding project. It’s silly—I know—but it works for me.

Call it alignment, call it small luxury—either way, those massage chairs are something I have to have.
