Maybe you’re someone who loves driving everywhere, all the time. Good for you.
Me? Absolutely not. There are plenty of moments when I am thrilled to let someone else take the wheel—literally. Uber has turned me into a very happy camper.
Whether I’m zipping into Huntington for dinner and a show, heading to a holiday party, or dashing to the train, Uber keeps me safe and saves me from the headache of parking. Seriously—think of the time wasted circling for a spot!
For me, Uber is like a little bridge between Point A and Point B. Always there. Always the backup plan. Especially when the idea of picking someone up at LaGuardia on a Friday at 5 p.m. feels… so… deeply… unappealing.
And yes—my boys loved it too. It gave them a sense of freedom—like local mass transit—and I slept better knowing there was an option that didn’t involve the middle of the night “Mom can you pick me up?”
I’m not saying Uber solves everything. But I am saying that if everyone Ubered home after even one drink, or one too many hours awake, or questionable night vision, or just bad driving skills… the world might be a safer place.
Not always necessary—but always an option. Always a backup plan. Always easy. Uber is something I have to have.
